Despite its smallish size, jumpers play an important role in computer electronics, as they are typically used in setting up or adjusting the printed circuit boards (PCB), such as the motherboards. These jumpers also come in handy when a need to clear the CMOS information (if the CMOS boot password is forgotten) or to reset the BIOS configuration settings (allows the computer to boot if a recent BIOS setting made it unable to boot) arises.
